School Food Program
In May 2024, the Queensland Government announced an additional $10.7 million in funding to support school food programs. Allocations were determined based on the individual needs of schools, with 623 Queensland state schools receiving funding to enhance their food programs.
White Rock State School was awarded $30,240 through this funding initiative as part of our commitment to supporting the health and wellbeing of Queensland students. School food programs play a vital role in improving student health and learning outcomes, and the support provided to our community is greatly appreciated.
The funding has been used to purchase a commercial high-output toaster for our breakfast program, as well as to fund teacher-aide hours to manage both the breakfast program and lunchrooms.
The goal of the program is to promote school attendance and help students start their day well, ready to learn.
We are also planning to purchase additional equipment to further improve our service offerings and expand the number of students benefiting from the program.
